Any orders placed this week will be held until Monday the 10th of July. We will not be shipping from the 4th to the 7th of July. To minimize the impact of this break, we will be upgrading all parcels to express post. This will mean any orders over $100 placed now will likely arrive in your mail on Tuesday the 11th or Wednesday the 12th of July. Please note, free post articles under $100, which are normally posted as a regular Australia Post letter will not be automatically upgraded to Express post. If you wish to have these items sent express on Monday the 3rd of July, please select "Domestic Parcel" as the shipping method at the checkout. We have temporarily removed the "Express Post" shipping options from the checkout due to this automatic upgrade of all parcels to Express.

We just found an issue with the "Quick Shop" button on products which caused them not to be able to be added to the shopping cart. We have fixed it by temporarily removing the "Quick Shop" button from product listings, but it may still show up for some customers. If you click the "Quick Shop" icon when you select a product, you will not be able to add it to the cart. Please click the name of the package rather than the image to select it and you will be able to add it to your shopping cart. Sorry for the inconvenience.

The Raspberry Pi foundation has just released their third iteration of the smallest and cheapest Raspberry Pi, the Raspberry Pi Zero W. As the name implies, the Raspberry Pi Zero W adds on-board WiFi to the functionality of the Raspberry Pi Zero. It has a micro SD card slot, a mini HDMI port, two micro USB ports (one for power, one for USB), and 512MB of RAM, and is powered by a single-core 1 GHz processor chip. While it has Bluetooth (BLE) hardware support, this is not yet supported in software. Like the Raspberry Pi Zero, availability is limited, and orders are limited to one Pi per customer. You can order one right now, from a supplier who has it in stock and have it delivered for about $20 USD. Links to these suppliers are at the bottom of this page. We expect we will have stock on the 26th of March. We are working to secure a stable, ongoing supply of Raspberry Pi Zero W's,

The FLIRC Universal Infrared Receiver is an extremely popular device which allows you to easily use any existing remote control with your Raspberry Pi or Home Theater PC. It converts IR signals from your remote control into USB Keyboard keypresses, so you can control almost any application on almost any device. While it is often used with a Raspberry Pi, it is extremely useful for a Home Theater PC, Macintosh or Android Media Centre so you can use a traditional remote control rather than a wireless keyboard in your lounge room. The new FLIRC adds the following features: Works naturally with your Logitech Universal Remote, no FLIRC programming needed – Just select one of the FLIRC keysets when programming your remote. Long Key Presses – Assign two functions to one button. Press the button for one function, hold down the button for the other function. Macros – You can store over 500 keys, and have more than one keypress per individual remote button. As an

It is at times like this that it is worth re-iterating that GPIO Australia is not endorsed, affiliated or associated with the Raspberry Pi Foundation in any way. We have finally been able to fulfill all back-orders for the Raspberry Pi Zero, and apologize deeply to many of our customers who were waiting six months for delivery of their pre-order. We had no idea when they were sold that the wait would be anywhere this long. After fulfilling our back-orders, we have a small amount of Raspberry Pi Zero's back in stock, and have made these available to our Australian customers at the same price as the Raspberry Pi Model 3. We recognize that this is a far cry from the $5USD that we were all promised for this unit, but until we can secure an ongoing wholesale supply of the Raspberry Pi Zero, we have resorted to classic economic theory to distribute our remaining stock. The Raspberry Pi Foundation recently announced that production of the

What happens if you try to use the previous version of NOOBS to boot the Raspberry Pi 3? It just boots up to the Rainbow screen, and goes no further. Can I power the Raspberry Pi using a 2,000mA Power supply? Yes. The Pi Foundation recommends a 2,500mA Power supply and the CPU draws more power than the previous model. However, if you are using the Pi without any high-power peripherals (eg. portable hard drives or camera modules), 2,000mA is more than sufficient for normal use. Can you install NOOBS v1.8.0 onto an 8GB SD Card? Yes. A 16GB Card is recommended, however, our testing showed no problems with an 8GB Card. Does the Multicomp case fit the Raspberry Pi 3? The Raspberry Pi 3 moved the two LEDs from the GPIO side of the SD Card slot on the board, to the power supply side of the board. It is otherwise physically identical to the Raspberry Pi 2. This means that the LED's are only visible

The Raspberry Pi Foundation has just released their successor to the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B, the Raspberry Pi 3. (And unlike the Pi Zero, which was “released” in December but still not available, we’ve actually got the Pi 3 in stock and will be able to fulfill orders as they are received) The Raspberry Pi 3 has on-board 802.11 b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.1 (classic and Low Energy). It has a quad-core 64 bit 1.2GHz processor (BCM2837, Arm Cortex-A53) and 1GB onboard RAM. It has the same physical dimensions as the previous model, so all existing cases and peripherals fit. The Raspberry Pi Foundation has also released a 2.5 Amp 5.1 volt power supply which they recommend using with the Pi, due to the increased power requirements and increased capability to power high-power USB devices. (We will be able to get it on a tech bench and test its capabilities later in the week to see how it performs with our standard 2A power supplies,

It's been a long wait, but it's finally here! We have been sent an initial shipment of 50 Raspberry Pi Camera Boards. The board itself is 25mm x 20mm x 9mm and weighs about 3G. It connects to Raspberry Pi by way of an included ribbon cable. The camera is connected to the BCM2835 processor on the Pi via the CSI bus, a higher bandwidth link which carries pixel data from the camera back to the processor. It has a native resolution of 5 megapixels, using a fixed focus lens. In terms of still images, the camera is capable of 2592 x 1944 pixel static images, and also supports 1080p30, 720p60 and 640x480p60/90 video. If you're quick, you can get your hands on one here: http://www.buyraspberrypi.com.au/shop/raspberry-pi-camera-board/
