Finally: Raspberry Pi Zero Backorders Fulfilled!
It is at times like this that it is worth re-iterating that GPIO Australia is not endorsed, affiliated or associated with the Raspberry Pi Foundation in any way.
We have finally been able to fulfill all back-orders for the Raspberry Pi Zero, and apologize deeply to many of our customers who were waiting six months for delivery of their pre-order. We had no idea when they were sold that the wait would be anywhere this long.
After fulfilling our back-orders, we have a small amount of Raspberry Pi Zero’s back in stock, and have made these available to our Australian customers at the same price as the Raspberry Pi Model 3. We recognize that this is a far cry from the $5USD that we were all promised for this unit, but until we can secure an ongoing wholesale supply of the Raspberry Pi Zero, we have resorted to classic economic theory to distribute our remaining stock.
The Raspberry Pi Foundation recently announced that production of the Pi Zero is restarting, and they are changing the model to include a much-requested, but as-yet unannounced new feature. They also re-iterated that the Raspberry Pi Zero will only be available through their four preferred partners in the UK and USA. (ie. Not through the normal wholesale channels like the Raspberry Pi 3). The model we have for sale is the current, first-release product, and not the upcoming ‘version 2’. We expect we will be able to provide the Raspberry Pi Zero at a reasonable price (probably $25 AUD) sometime after January 2017. If ever.
We are not taking back-orders for this item, once our stocks are out, we will not be taking orders until we have a new shipment date and wholesale quantity assured.
